I am on holiday.
This blog will now become a travel journal whereby
I boast, brag, moan, whine and generally rub it in
for the next 8 weeks.
for the next 8 weeks.
Below is the view from our apartment in Paris.
Please note the spelling
of apartment
of apartment
is with two "p"s in French.
Makes all the difference
when the wireless internet password
is, "appartment".
Doh.

For extra salt in the wound,
go to Urbandon's blog
for the un plugged version
of our trip.
Hong Kong first.
It's hot and sticky.
We drank lots of beer and got lost.
Then got hot and sticky.
Word to the wise: If you are looking
for a specific store,
don't rely on Google.

It's one never ending seventh hell
of designer shops and malls.
Even the walkways have shops.
I felt like a hot hamster
on a circular run.
I stayed at the Penisula Hotel.
Once the grand icon of colonialism,
it's service is impeccable,
and the high tea an experience.
It was a bucket list choice.
Tick.
A small hiccup with the flight
had us on our knees thanking
ghost dog for getting us there.
We made a libation to the spirits that be.
Word to the wise: Forget cheap flights.
When the shit hit the fan,
it pays to fly your country's airline
and be a member of their club.
Shortly off to eat macarons here:
and hit the flea markets here:
If you are at a loss for comment, have a short
lesson in french swearing here.
"salope" = bitch in French.
Now I must get back to watching
a homeless transvestite work her corner of the street,
just below our aPPartment.
Au revoir.

mon dieu but you are having a big adventure.... lucky dog!
ReplyDeleteI'M SOOOOOO HAPPY YOU'RE VISITING LADUREE!!!!!!!! SOO pleased!! Just love that shop to death.....!!! Flea markets galore, and bear in a mind the Musee de Montmartre round the back of the Sacre Coeur but in the other direction from the tacky tourist art market. There are signposts for the Musee but it's down a street that looks completely residential - don't change your mind, it's one of Paris's best kept secrets. really!!
ReplyDeleteGet to laduree very very very early. Have hazelnut macarrons and lemon verbena tea for breakfast! Bon Chance mes amies!! x
ReplyDeleteps. Thank heavens for the Quantas Club!
ReplyDeleteWhich reminds me. Musee de Montmartre, I have sneaky feeling there's a working vinyard further down the hill that way that do tastings. Not sure where/when but may be worth investigating...!
ReplyDeleteOMG! Sur mon Dieu! Qu'est-ce que vous me mettre sur le marché aux puces? S'il vous plaît, pas de tee-shirts.
ReplyDeleteThis going to be wonderful....I am looking forward to reading of your travels! Inspiration!
ReplyDeleteOh Grrl you are indeed a luck salope! I love Paris and wish you the BEST. What fun to travel vicariously along with you and UD. xxoo, sus
ReplyDeleteI am simply a Jealous Salope!

ReplyDeleteOh i adore Paris...fabulous flea markets and boutiques galore......heeeaven.
ReplyDeleteOoooh la la, I am going to live vicariously through you while all the while, curse you in the most appropriate a-la-Francaise tone of voice.
ReplyDeleteAnd if anything about your vacation becomes miserable, do not expect any symPPathy from me!
Hahaa! Loving this entertainment from you two! You are a match made in heaven. ;)
ReplyDeleteGood reading - will be back to keep up with your very interesting travels! Lesley
ReplyDeleteChartreuse, Avocado, Forest, Grass, Hunter, Olive, etc. etc. I think you get the idea.........
ReplyDelete"The Pen.." well done on ticking things off the bucket list.
Have a most wonderful adventure........
Righto I'm now turning a delightful shade of mint green, time to go....
Claire :}
What a view and look at that flea market, after eight weeks you may need to get a shipping container to get your loot home. Have a great time.
ReplyDeleteQ club = indispensable
ReplyDeleteespecially
now that i am over back-packing.
have a fab time.
Looking forward to further tales from what sounds like will be a fabulous adventure.
ReplyDeleteThe French have a number of appealing swear words, I'll be interested to see which one you learn next :-)
dammit salope, i am happy for you!!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip! I watched Little Paris Kitchen on the TV and just wanted to eat and go back to Paris! I am of course jealous but hopefully it will be my turn again soon! x
ReplyDeleteAAAAAAAAgh! I am filled with envy, jealousy, and general seedy vice thoughts. I want to be there.
ReplyDeleteBut... I am really excited for you and CANNOT wait to see what you are going to post. I visited Paris once, but I was 4 months pregnant with my son and had horrible morning sickness. My most vivid memory was vomiting at The Louvre and thinking, "I can't believe I am vomiting at The Louvre."
I did enjoy my hotel and its pink bathroom fixtures though. More pleasant to vomit into a pink toilet.
Have a marvelous time!
What an exciting trip - I haven't travelled for years and its so in my blood.....
ReplyDeleteexciting. you planted the seed, you two
ReplyDeleteand i had to order champagne this weekend.
thank you very much!
Damn, you're so close but not quite close enough. If I had the spondoolicks I'd be tempted to jump on a train jus to watch you rummaging around the flea markets. Have a marvellous time Grrl, you've earned it. X
ReplyDeleteLOVE the new blog header!! Perfect choice! No worries about the wine tip.... google for more info, seems I was right although it seems it's (deliberately?!) difficult to get in for tours/tastings! Hope you manage it...!
ReplyDeleteOf course every hanging garment at the flea market is vintage silk, the macarons so exotically flavored as to cause light-headedness. As I know you will, squeeze every drop of wonder and delight out of these travels. It is easy to share your joy. xo
