Cloth Paper Scissors + me!

Meet Miss Lavendar.
She appears in this months Cloth Paper Scissors.
Yes it seems I have been busy.

Sort of seeing how far the moniker
"mixed" media can go, really.
Perhaps there is a new description:
AADD.
Artistic Attention Deficiency Disorder.

People of plastic here
People of paper mache there,

not to mention dogs
of paper mache and much spoiled-ness.
This is Miss Prissy who is winging
back from the US.

No doubt she will have airs when she returns.
Funny how we say,
"putting on the dog" for those
with a puffed up sense of themselves.

This is Tinkle. She isn't in the etsy shop either
because she is in a first class freight box.

All this fuss is entirely the fault of Julie Arkell.
She of the gorgeous folksy paper mache and small print fabric
whose work I have adored for so long.

Thanks to Elvis at Lovely Textiles who has actually met her
and done her workshop.
Flings self postrate to the floor chanting,
"I'm not worthy I'm not worthy" while being careful
where the "R" is placed in that "p" word.

Crowing about yourself is
quite the UN Australian
thing to do.
Tall poppies and all that.
We do frown upon it.

However there have been too many lectures
and stern fingers waggled in my direction
about keeping the art cards
so close to the chest.

Just like Elvis Robertson,
I have managed to squirm
into the last spot for Julie Arkell's
2011 workshop.

The squirm is confirmed.
It is at Les Soeurs Angaliases

Yeah..

in the south of France.
Held in the English Sister's gorgeous maison .

I know.
It will be awful, *chuckle*

Meanwhile, more vintage scrap softies
have been born.
It was fun making ears for Charlotte
with fingers of an old glove.

Stitching quietens the mind
and helps ideas to flow.

  1. OMG.... shit you are good and I mean shit in the nicest way.

I'm a huge fan of paper mache as it is always a part of my warmer weather fun.

This is an awesome post Denise and now I must rush out to knit while others are watching horses.

I have to come back as there is so much to absorb here.

    xx Robyn

  10. Well I must tell you how very very exciting it is to see your fabulous work in CPS!! Huge BRavo's to you for getting your great work out there!!!!! Nad her is a huge toast to AADD.. I think that so very many of us who make messes and flit from medium to medium and can't keep our fingers from running gleefully thru the fabrics and threads and thrift store clothes in search of the perfect piece to cut up and reuse , need to be very proud of our affliction!!!
I am so sure that you will have a terrible time in France!!! Good on you for Squirming In !! What will dog do without you????????

  11. I am now completely riven with jealousy. I want to be you but don't worry I won't get any weirder than normal about it! I love these new people and beings you've brought into the world and that woman is too gorgeous. Doesn't everyone just want to make dolls that look like her? I would.
OK off to meet our foreign student's teachers and finish farm reports and all and all but I want to be you - just for a while...

  24. I always pause to double – and occasionally triplecheck the 'r' in that 'p' word. An entire raft of unfortunate possibility there.

Tinkle (and co) is all sorts of fabulous. You deserve that squirm. Shout loud and proud, I say...
