It's true
Hound has a girlfriend -
two, actually.
He is a polyamorous dog in an open relationship.

Lucy is the primary, while her mate,
Candy is secondary.
In fact Lucy hogged the camera so much,
Candy did not even get a lick in.
Her special gift,

One of her mums said she

Perhaps her doggy heart was bursting.

Remember the movie, Field of Dreams?
"If you build it, they will come'?
Well Kevin Costner
clearly didn't have an Etsy shop.
After careful study,
Etsy fundamentals are within my reach.
It's quite proactive -
you get out of it what you put in, and Treasury
listings are free,
which is rare,
refreshing and wonderful.

Being inspired by Cynjohn's lovely valentine article,
and the huge number of hits he is now enjoying.
My butt is numb,
but I made it to the
treasury in an act of shameless
self serving connivery.
Any hints on how to get "in" at Etsy beyond
promising a kidney
that you're not quite done with yet?

Thank you for this post, the most original I have seen in honour of St. Valentine's! I hope you and your doggy had a great day!
ReplyDeleteThe "Found" heart is to fall on love with instantly, but the paper mache version of Candy made my heart melt! Such personality, who'd have thought? Artist's hands!
Good luck with Etsy!
Go into mass production with those dog hearts...!! If you can´t sell them there, ship them to Berlin... - lovely papier maché...
ReplyDeleteThe papier mache dog was so charming.
ReplyDeleteI linked to your thong post the other day!
You blog inspires me in so many ways.
great!!

Love the work. I've kind of given up on etsy for the time being, although I was trying to sell plates with mosaic on them, which are also not very practical to ship. I may go back eventually with lighter things.
ReplyDeleteOne way to get in treasuries is to make them yourself - people often feel that a certain amount reciprocity is due. I know I do!
ReplyDeleteKeep watch at the treasury clock:
http://www.craftopolis.com/
and snag a few yourself. Then let the people know you put them in there (send them a convo). Then you will likely get in some more yourself. Also, being active in teams can be helpful - the estyFAST is a good one (fibre arts street team). People there often make etsyFAST treasuries and do other things to promote each other.
Also, I think it helps to heart people who might buy your work so they check out your shop. If it sounds kind of mercenary, that's because it is.
But sounds like you have discovered the etsy secret - it gives back only as much as you put into it. Good luck!!
Grrl, this is pure whimsicalic fabuloso. I wish I could help on the etsy front, as I don't really know what you're talking about, but anyone who doesn't want one of these babies doesn't know what's what. F the Vuitton bags! I want Candy!!
ReplyDeleteDenise - I too love Candy in papier mache - I too do not know anything about Etsy so cannot help you...but I too adore you you are a very funny valentine! I was telling my friend Sue last night that I wish we could just go over and haul you and the beast out for a g&t, alas it is snowing here so probably won't be able to swing by and then we feel more like having hot chocolates anyway. The other reason I've been thinking of you is that I entered the knitting olympics over at Yarn Harlot and I was going to make a tree cozy and I started but my wool is too nice and I think I'll make a blanket instead and so what do you think of that? How do you do what you do - it looks so beautiful but I don't think I can put my hard won knitting out in the harsh elements. I just can't. I'm a failed graffiti knitter. pooh. maybe I'll just be a guerilla button box player! or a pirate...
ReplyDeleteThat is gorgeous! An I didn't realise Dog was so popular with the ladies?
ReplyDeleteEtsy is a mystery to me too - but apparently you need to comment loads on their forums. I find their newsletters helpful for general marketing online. I am also trying listing on Artfire at the moment - which is cool as its just a flat monthly fee.
Yay for poly-dog-love!
ReplyDeleteI have to say getting involved in the Etsy community has made a ton of difference for me. Check in on the blogs, find street teams...local ones, knitting ones, whatever you feel drawn to!
You should head over to my blog and check out this lady's work I met this weekend! SOOOOOO very lovely!
Hey Thanks a ton Robyn, Cynjohn, Ginger..
ReplyDeleteI have realised it's alot of time involved which is great, cuz we all have time, if not money.
I will go whore myself out there with the forums and email the guys in my treasury..
off I go, swinging mah beads...
I LERVE all of these. There you are with your favourite colours again.
ReplyDeleteThose hounds. They are pretty and funny. Does that make them pretty funny?
Oh Grrl! Your hearts are so touchy feely...in so many ways. I want one!Shall I go to etsy?
ReplyDeletewhat beautiful creations!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with Etsy, i can't give any advice though...
Very cute, my poor Rasmus is to young yet he hasn't learnt to doggy flirt;-)
ReplyDeleteLove the little heart tags.
Beautiful hearts Grrl. I know Bryn will be jealous, so I shall not show him!
ReplyDeleteAm now off to follow yr links.
Yes, let´s swap hearts... - gute Idee! please e-mail me (address in my sidebar)...
ReplyDeleteaw!!
ReplyDeleteon saturday my fiance and I got a little puppy-german shepard/pit bull mix-and my kitties were jealous but we told them that they could all be our valentines and that it was okay-that we loved them all very much.
what a lovely idea about the paper mache, too.
Hi - I'm relatively new but I wanted to say I love your posts and your work! The papier mache dogs are gorgeous - and your dog is making me pine for one! Rambling Rose is my friend here - you saw her recently!
ReplyDeletePS forgot to say how I love paper mache hound with cocked leg.
ReplyDeleteWonderful whimsy and wisdom! -J
ReplyDeleteI adore these dog charms. My Hell Hounds sport a couple of silver charms, but these?.....these are the coolest.
ReplyDeleteMy ETSY problem is that I need to be more aggressive and attentive. I go on ETSY binges, both buying and selling then I'm on to other stuff. WHEN will I ever learn??!!!
The papier mache hound has stolen my heart.
ReplyDeleteI thought you may like to check out my younger sister's post on her blog. She has just started guerilla knitting! She is 15.
ReplyDeletehttp://misscooperblog.blogspot.com/
Your hearts are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThe "found" one touched my heart, as my little girl is a rescue.
She waited two years in a shelter for a home, before we found her!
I've read a few of your posts, your blog is funny and heartwarming - and I'm now a follower!
With the fans your work draws, witness the comments, could ETSY do that much better? Don't know about it either, currently without product. Say, now that we have entered Pisces, I wanted to send birthday wishes that would be reasonably close to on time. Hope it is, was or will be a grand event. May we continue to tilt at windmills.
ReplyDeleteThat was a beautiful post. I have selected you for a beautiful blogger award. See this post to play along :)
